Representative Documentation

The documentary images which follow are indeed ‘representative,’ albeit a fraction, of the record from which this work is composed. The primary documentary sources for this memoir are found in the vast correspondence housed in the Citizen Soldier collection in the archives of the Cornell University Library. The images shown here concentrate on the public recognition given to the activities of the Safe Return Amnesty Committee (and subsequently its successor organization, Citizen Soldier) by prominent American news outlets like The New York Times and other major regional dailies of that era. There is also a small sampling of other political documents, flyers, fund raising materials and the like, that promoted and sustained those activities.
